Vanilla Candles

live with the chipped cup, the

often barren larder, the

barren promises like

candles meant to scent,

smelling of nothing until their

acrid smoke spirals when

blown out.

Notebooks

approach my poems

expecting me to be

grotesquely naked within when

actually you will find me

chastely clothed with words.
