“Canto de Ossanha”

When he opened the door she was

surprised to hear the subtle rhythmic

bump of Bossa Nova and the soon-to-happen

sigh of her silky dress sliding off  her

so her divorcée’s instinct was

Vai! Vai! Vai! Vai!

but the hook of the music and the

smell of good food cooking and his

unhurried grace as he took her coat and

kissed her cheek made her

little voice say louder and louder

não vou, não vou, não vou.

Yay! You’ve gotten the language right! I like the swing in this song very much. You should have included a link to the song here too!!!

I like it that she ignores her instincts and decides to let things simply happen. The repetition of ‘não vou’ gets a whole new meaning in connection with the song. I won’t love, I won’t cry, I won’t suffer.

Beautifully written Steve! And now you got me singing Canto de Ossanha into the night! (If I didn’t have to work tomorrow, I’d cook something special, have some wine and enjoy time with myself!)
